Kardam manufactures small to medium size metal stampings and is a Tier 1
supplier of a line of niche automotive parts (plugs and baffles) to OEM's
worldwide and a Tier 2 supplier to OEM's on fuel tank rings. The product line of
plugs and baffles combines metal stampings with an expandable rubberized sealant
material. The plugs are manufactured by forming a metal stamping and attaching a
pad of rubberized sealant to the stamped part. The plug seals the hole when it
is snapped into place and the rubberized pad of sealant is heated to complete
the virtually indestructible seal/bond. The plugs are generally put into place
on a vehicle just after the vehicle is primed. The plugs are designed with
attachment clips that can be installed quickly and efficiently. The baffles are
used to seal vehicle frame and pillar cavities in order to reduce interior sound
levels and prevent vapors, dust, and moisture from entering the body structure
of the vehicle. The baffles are custom designed to meet the exact specifications
of a vehicle. The rubberized sealant has the capability of expanding up to
1000%, which enables the baffle to seal off tight corners and odd shaped areas.
Kardam's manufacturing capabilities include heat staking, crimping, welding, and
assembly. The plant operates with 5 presses ranging from 100 to 400 tons.
